Jake Mendelssohn has been fascinated by Robots all of his life. As a child, he built his first Robot out of wooden sticks and since then has gotten an Engineering Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MBA from the Wharton School, designed numerous electronic and micro-controller based commercial products and started three Robotics companies. He has also published one of the first Robotics newsletters.

In 1993, he created and started the Trinity College Fire-Fighting Home Robot Contest which became the foundation for the global World Educational Robotics contest. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Hartford and Trinity College. He was also a certified High School teacher at the Greater Hartford Academy of Math and Science and the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, where he taught advanced courses in Physics, Electronics, Photonics, CAD and, of course, Robotics.

He is the founder and current President of the Connecticut Robotics Society, a group of inventors and entrepreneurs interested in all forms of advanced technologies.

He is also one of the founding members of the Connecticut Invention Convention and for the past 37 years he has worked with this organization to enhance the creativity and problem-solving skills of students from kindergarten to grade 12. The Connecticut Invention Convention is the oldest and largest such organization in the U.S. He also help found InventFuture.Global an international association that brings the same activities and support to students across the world.
